Who am I?

…AND WHY DO I BREED?

About

Hi! My name is Kamryn, and I am a born and raised Californian. I am a *new* Canadian (lol!). Soon after meeting my dear husband, who is a Canadian, we married and made plans to move to his home country. We currently live in Quebec on a small hobby farm in the Laurentians. We enjoy our chickens, rabbits and gardening; and look forward to adding more farm animals in the future. Our dogs are our children, and they all live at home with us.

It was sort of a no brainer that I would become a breeder! At a very young age, I always loved animals. I preferred playing with stuffed animal toys, instead of dolls. Funny story: I would ask my mom to boil me an egg, so that I could take care of it. Obviously, I loved being a caretaker of animals. In middle school and high school, I was in 4H and Future Farmers of America. I bred and raised Polish rabbits for show with the ARBA. I also raised and showed swine! Every time I would see animals at the fair, or at a show, I would get a rush of excitement. It truly is my passion to be around animals. However I didn’t yet know what I would end up wanting to breed at that time.

My WHY

Fast forward to my twenties. It was then that I got my first Dachshund, a gift from my husband. That Dachshund was my baby. I put a crazy amount of research, time and dedication into her. I trained her from day one to become the best dog she could be. I would always get compliments on her temperament. Needless to say, I fell in love with the breed. And I learned that there are many misconceptions out there about the breed in regards to just how capable and smart they truly are. I also discovered that the breeding practices that were common near me, were bringing down the quality of the dogs. This is what sparked my desire to make a difference in the breed. I wanted to offer people quality bred dogs who have high quality of life and longevity.

My goal in my kennel is to breed dachshunds who have the correct conformation, and the preferred temperament. I would often see one or the other, but never both! I want to see my puppies and their families fall in love with each other, and live long lives!
